who I am | what i do
Born and raised near Mannheim, Germany. After successfully completing my apprenticeship as a carpenter, cabinetmaker, I studied Architecture in Berlin. My professional career began in 2005 when I graduated as a Dipl.-Ing. (FH) in Architecture. Due to my training as a craftsman, there has always been a strong connection between planning and realisation. From this craftsman's perspective, I quickly developed the desire to bring together craftsmanship, architecture, design and planning. In the field of exhibitions, trade fairs and events, I initially found exciting opportunities to work professionally on this combination on a variety of scales. This later expanded to include large-scale scenery for theatre and opera productions for renowned venues in Germany, Austria, France and the USA.
During my collaboration with Hertzer GmbH I was able to specialise my professional experience in these areas. During this time I was always able to see what was planned being created directly in the workshop. When I joined the Stiftung Oper in Berlin as Project Manager for the Bühnenservice, the size and number of projects I was responsible for increased to around 30 productions per season.
In 2019 I have decided to move with my family to Lisbon, Portugal.
In 2020 I founded SKENE - Scenery Production & Consultancy LDA and added TV and Shows to my portfolio.
With SKENE I can offer a wide range of services for theatre, opera, TV, exhibitions, events and shows. I offer consultation on the feasibility of a project, project management and on-site supervision. I also find the best partners for you in all areas of set construction, lighting designers, structural engineers, acousticians and designers. I do technical concept planning, detailed design of decorative structures in CAD 3d, factory planning for production in the workshops and project documentation.
In my work I am conscientious and creative about re-using materials and components from your existing stock. Wherever it makes sense, costs can be saved and your investment maximised. Sustainability, which is becoming increasingly important, also improves your project. The use of materials can also be optimised and reduced in the design process. Another focus of my design is to be responsive to the project and to ensure fast and uncomplicated production, assembly and use.
At SKENE I enjoy working on projects in the artistic and cultural environment, whether small or large, and turning an idea into reality. I look forward to hearing about your ideas.
